The Sugar Pine Reservoir is outside of Forrest Hill California in the Tahoe National Forrest.
We decided to get the Ashely and Jack out for a little more off road training. Sugar Pine has many good loops for begining and advanced riders. However I would say most of the area is for begining, perhaps moderate riders. For more advanced single track or hill climbing, there isn't too much that is challenging. It is a beatiful area that is very peacful.

Ashley started off a bit nervous, a lot of being upset and moody in the begining. I believe this is caused by nervous energy, new place hasn't ridden here, etc. The challenge for a new rider here is that many of the trails are wide enough for quads. This is good and bad for a novice dirt biker.

You basically have nice wide beaten down trails that are easy to navigate. However you occasionally run accross other quad and have to figure out how to pass them or let them go by. Some of the spots do not give you much space.
Jack took out the not quite so fully restored or reliable 1978 JR50. We had it running then a crash flooded it for about 30 minutes. Towards the end of the day it gave up all together. Hours of trying to get it running then it starts right before we put it back in the truck.

The actual reserviour is very pretty, very clear water. They do have a small boat ramp. When we were there a few folks were scuba diving around the lake.
Good day around a beautiful lake
